Studying with Claude

Connect each course's Claude project to its transcripts.

Connect a Claude project

Create one Claude project per course, then give it access to your transcripts.

  1. Turn on the Filesystem connector

In the Claude desktop app, open Settings → Connectors, turn on Filesystem and give it your lectures folder.

  2. Print the project instructions
    Terminal
    stenny project-instructions
  3. Paste them into each project

Paste each course's block into that course's project instructions. You only do this once.

This works in the Claude desktop app on the Mac. There's no way to push files into a project's knowledge automatically.

What Claude can do then

Reading a whole course

For questions about a whole course, Claude can read the course files instead of each lecture:

FileContents
Data Analytics (all lectures).mdEvery final transcript of the course, with a table of contents built from the section headings.
Data Analytics (summaries).mdEvery summary. Much smaller.

They hold the same text as the lecture folders, so Claude should read one or the other, not both. Live drafts are left out until their final pass.

A one-hour lecture is about 11,000 tokens, so a semester of one course comes to roughly 150,000 to 250,000 tokens.

Written for an AI to read

Stenny writes every file so Claude can tell it apart and judge it:

The AI step

Separately from your Claude project, Stenny can call Claude Haiku once after each lecture to add section headings, write the summary and suggest fixes for misheard terms. It never rewrites what was said. See How cleanup works and Set up the AI step.
